"A research methodology in which the construction of a design artifact (prototype, system, interactive piece) is itself the primary contribution to knowledge, rather than a means to an end."

常缩写为 RtD。与一般 design research 不同,RtD 强调设计过程本身就是研究方法。注意不要与 action research、practice-based research、user-centered design 混用。
